What is the Freelancer Hub?

The UK’s ecological sector is underpinned by freelance ecologists. Many consultancies rely upon freelancers, and face difficulty in regularly finding reliable individuals. At the same time, freelancers often struggle to find consultancies, and both sides inevitably waste time undertaking admin. The Freelancer Hub’s directory aims to provide the solution, where freelancers create their own profiles, that can then be searched for by ecological consultancies.

Freelancers profiles can outline skills, experience, and any species licences, equipment, accreditations etc an individual may have. The Freelance Hub aims to be just as applicable to new graduates gaining experience undertaking bat surveys, as highly specialised individuals that support bespoke projects.

The Ecological Networks internal messaging platform, allows companies and freelancers to make quick and easy contact, to inquire about availability or potential work.

The Ecological Network, aims to build a platform of resources that may be of use for freelance ecologists. These range from invoice templates to expenses spreadsheets, and we hope to expand it, including useful articles or online training sessions.

We hope to make the Freelancer Hub a community, where individuals can both benefit from resources and contribute.

The Ecological Network also aims to provide a platform, for questions, discussion and advise sharing for freelance ecologists. A platform where users can post questions and seek help from others. With time, we hope to integrate guest articles from ecologists, building a real community for our sector.
